When using Lightroom to organise my images, I like to add as much information as possible so any time I can use the power of Lightroom to locate just what I am looking for very quickly.
Most of my work these days is done on black and white film and then scanned using an Epson V800 scanner. The main drawback is that unlike digital, film doesn’t carry any metadata so I have to manually add it inside of Lightroom.
The MetaData I Like To Use
As I use different formats ranging from 35mm up to and including 5×4 and a variety of films, I need to be able to quickly identify certain cameras, film stocks and even developers I have used.
For the Camera Make and Model data, I use the Camera Make and Model Renamer program on an iMac computer but it is also available for Windows. This program allows me to write the camera make, camera model and even the lens information directly into the scanned file which is a big time saver.
When it comes to adding information about development times, and film stocks, I use the Lightroom Film Notes Plugin which is extremely easy to use and the information you enter into the text field is searchable from within Lightroom.
if you use Adobe Lightroom Classic and like to be organised, then why not take a quick look at both these products to see if they complement your workflow?
